Evangelical Church (Bergisch Neukirchen)
The Evangelical Church Bergisch Neukirchen is a Protestant church in the Leverkusen district of Bergisch Neukirchen . It is the seat of the parish of the same name in the Evangelical Church District of Leverkusen .
history
The church, which was under the patronage of St. George , was first mentioned in a document for the St. Gereon Monastery in Cologne from 1223. The Gereonsstift held the patronage of the church. The tower was built in the 13th century in Romanesque style. The current nave was built in the years 1781–1783 by the Düsseldorf architect Johann Joseph Erb under pastor Peter Christoph Scheibler (1744–1814). The “solemn inauguration” took place on December 19, 1784. In 1911, according to the plans of the architect Peter Klotzbach, the tower was raised by one more storey and the slated hood was put on.
