The former Protestant church of Cosel (today part of Kędzierzyn-Koźle) was on the southern edge of the old town of Cosel . The classical style church dates from the 18th century and was demolished after 1945. It was also used as a garrison church.

history

The design for the church building came from Johann Martin Pohlmann and was modified at Pohlmann's request by Carl Gotthard Langhans (1732–1808) according to his ideas. Langhans changed the design of the entrance portal . The construction was carried out from 1786 to 1788. The site of the previously demolished Ratibor Gate was chosen as the location for the church. The ceremonial inauguration took place on November 2, 1788. The parish became part of the ecclesiastical province of Silesia of the Evangelical Church in the Royal Prussian Lands formed from 1817 .

In 1930 the church received a modern, free-standing steeple according to the plans of Hans Thomas from Breslau. This had a height of 30 meters. The consecration of bells took place on April 6, 1930 .

In the years after the Second World War , the Protestant church was demolished. The church tower was left at first. This was blown up on September 30, 1975. At the site of the church there is now a bus station .
