Evangelical Church (Ozimek)
The Evangelical Church in Ozimek (German: Malapane), a city in Poland , was built in the 19th century in the historicist style and is dedicated to St. John the Baptist .
It is located at the northern end of a (road) axis that originally ran from southwest to northeast through Malapane.
history
In 1768 an independent evangelical parish was established in Malapane, which became part of the ecclesiastical province of Silesia of the Evangelical Church in the Royal Prussian Lands, which was established in 1817 . On April 8, 1821, the round-arched church was consecrated to designs by Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781–1841) .
The construction was initially carried out without a church tower, instead a free-standing, wooden bell tower with two bells was built. On September 19, 1859 the foundation stone for the church tower was laid, which was completed and consecrated in 1860.
Inside there was once a neo-Gothic style fixture that was cast in the local Malapaner hut.
When the Russian front marched into Malapane in the spring of 1945, the pastor of the parish Günter Brun was murdered. After that no new pastor was appointed. The church members were also looked after by the pastor of another Protestant church. The expulsion led to a decrease in the number of Protestants, so that the community lost its independence and in 1962 became a branch church of the Protestant community in Opole.
In 1960 the church was registered as a monument. In 1988 there was a fire in the church.
