The Evangelical Church of Beinstein is a Gothic church in the Waiblingen district of Beinstein .

history

Predecessor church

Parts of the tower probably date from the 12th or 13th century. What is certain is that there was a previous church. There is evidence that the Schmiden regional chapter met in Beinstein in 1225 . These meetings took place only in places that had their own church. In 1366 a church was mentioned for the first time. Nothing is known about the appearance and the exact location of this church.

Today's church

The construction of today's church began in 1454. In 1954, during renovation work for the 500th anniversary of the church, an approx. One meter thick foundation wall was found under the nave, which indicates a previous building. For monument protection reasons it was not allowed to continue digging at that time. Further fragments, which indicate a previous building, were found during the renovation in 2006/2007. In the pre-Reformation period, the church was consecrated to a saint, who can no longer be followed precisely. St. Stephan, St. Sebastian or St. Bernhard are mentioned again and again.

organ

In 1728 Johann Christoph Herzer built a new organ , which was rebuilt in 1836 by Johann Victor Gruol the Younger and equipped with a free pedal . The Stuttgart organ builder GL Friedrich renewed the interior work in 1934 while retaining the baroque case. In 1949 a revision by the company EF Walcker & Cie. and in 1954 a transfer to the choir, where the instrument was placed at ground level. Today's organ behind the historic prospect comes from master organ builder Peter Plum from Marbach am Neckar and was inaugurated in November 1982. The organ has fourteen registers and 1016 pipes, which are distributed over two manuals and pedal. The disposition is as follows:

Bells

Originally there were two bells, the Osanna bell from 1499, which still exists today, and a smaller bell from 1528.

The smaller bell from 1528 was melted down in 1896 and cast into a bell with the name Concordia (strike note c 2 ); In the same year, a private donation made it possible to cast a third bell called Harmonie (strike note a 1 ). The two bells had to be handed in as a metal donation during the First World War .

In 1920 two new bells were added, the emergency bell (nominal as 1 ) and the peace bell (nominal c 2 ). In January 1942, due to the Second World War , these bells also had to be donated as metal.

The church's bell today consists of four bells . On January 24, 2014, the Christ bell was raised into the bell house. The bell was put into service on March 23, 2014.
