The Evangelical Church Heidenoldendorf is a church in the Detmold district of Heidenoldendorf and part of the Protestant Reformed class Detmold in the Lippe regional church .

history

There was previously a chapel on the property, which was probably built before 1473. A complete renovation took place in 1670/71, and an extension was added to the building in 1927. In the mid-1950s, however, the small church was so dilapidated that it was no longer worth renovating. Therefore, against the initial resistance of the Heidenoldendorf citizens, a new building was decided.

According to the plans of the Detmold district building councilor Kurt Wiersing, the new church was built between 1957 and 58 right next to the previous chapel, which was still in use during that time. In addition to three newly cast bells, the old bell from 1473 was also housed in the bell tower as a clock-strike bell. The church was consecrated on June 15, 1958.

Architecture and equipment

The church for 400 to 450 visitors has a rectangular floor plan, on the east side the bell tower is built on half the width. The nave and tower are made of brickwork that has been whitewashed both inside and out. The saddle roof of the church is covered with red tile roofs, the tower roof is made of copper.

The last supper table and pulpit are made of sandstone and slate and, like the church, were designed by Kurt Wiersing. A large stained glass window comes from the artist Karl Ehlers . The organ gallery is located above the entrance, and in 2002 a new organ was purchased from the Dresden organ workshop Jehmlich .
