Evangelical School Foundation in the EKD

The Evangelical School Foundation in the EKD (ESS EKD) promotes the Protestant school system in the Federal Republic of Germany . The foundation was established in 1994. 19 member churches of the Evangelical Church in Germany belong to it. The office is located in the EKD church office in Hanover-Herrenhausen .

tasks

The foundation promotes the Protestant school system in Germany. One focus is on East Germany. With the help of the foundation, more than 160 Protestant schools have been established so far (2012). The foundation advises and supports school start-up initiatives in the development of pedagogical concepts , questions of the school profile and school development and in school administration , in questions of school law and in financing. It advises and supports Protestant schools and their providers in school development, in the further training of school principals , through the development of advanced training programs for teachers and in developing the profile. The office publishes articles on school start-ups and materials. The foundation is financed through monetary donations and partnerships in start-up initiatives. Since 1994, 122 general education Protestant schools have received more than 9 million euros in funding.
