The Evangelische Gemeindeblatt für Württemberg was founded in 1905 and has been the Protestant church area newspaper with the highest circulation in Germany for years .

Like all the others, it appears weekly and in 2006 reached 200,000 readers with 80,000 subscribers in Württemberg . In 2019 / Q3 the sheet was sold 39,479 times.

The Stuttgarter Evangelische Sonntagsblatt has been included in the parish newspaper since 1972 . The Evangelisches Gemeindeblatt für Württemberg is one of the few church newspapers that is not owned by the regional church. The editorship and title rights are held by the Evangelical Society of Stuttgart . The community newspaper is published by the Evangelische Gemeindepresse GmbH, Stuttgart.

The editor-in-chief of the Evangelisches Gemeindeblatt for Württemberg has been the theologian and journalist Petra Ziegler since 2004 .
