Evian is a non-carbonated mineral water from the town of Évian-les-Bains in the French Alps . Evian has been officially bottled since 1826. The bottled water was available in a total of 120 countries worldwide in 2003. The water is preferred in America, meanwhile also frequently in Europe and Japan. Evian is a brand of the Danone Eaux group. Evian is sold in Germany by the Frankfurt- based company Danone Waters Deutschland , a subsidiary of the Danone Group.

The water comes from the Cachat spring, which is in the immediate vicinity of Lake Geneva . It has a low mineral content. There are different types of bottles with a capacity of 0.33 to 1.5 liters. The 0.5 liter tetrapak was discontinued at the end of 2006. As is customary in the industry, the gastronomy range is only available in glass bottles .

Issey Miyake designed a version of the Evian water bottle in 2010.

In an advertising campaign, Evian claims that the mineral water would also be suitable for babies without being boiled . However, research has found that there are germs in the water and therefore could pose a risk to infants and people with weak immune systems.

The water is used by reputable laboratories (such as Eawag ) to calibrate the measuring instruments. It was found in summer 2020 that it is not free from undesirable impurities (such as chlorothalonil ).
