Ewa Teilmans

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ewa Teilmans (* in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German opera and theater director and actress . She was the artistic director of the Reutlingen Theater and the Wolfgang Borchert Theater in Münster and since the 2006/07 season she has been a freelance opera and drama director and actress, as well as an author, translator, project manager and lecturer.

Life

Ewa Teilmans studied philosophy, German, Romance studies and pedagogy at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and, after completing her state examination, acting and directing at the Berlin University of the Arts. After receiving her degree in acting in 1983, she worked for the first time at the Akademie der Künste Berlin, the stages in the city of Bonn and at the Junge Theater Berlin. In the following years she worked as an actress, director and author on numerous stages and was active as an acting lecturer. From 1988 to 1991 she took over the management of the Reutlinger Theater in der Tonne and led the stage into an era of unusual adaptations and interdisciplinary projects with a high audience. From the birth of her first daughter Camilla Jasmin in 1992, she worked as a freelance director and actress in the fields of music theater and acting at various theaters and opera houses until 1999. Her daughter Lilian Marie was born in 1994. From 1999 to 2006 Ewa Teilmans was the artistic director of the Wolfgang Borchert Theater in Münster, where she was also responsible for a large number of directing work and world premieres. She also worked as a guest lecturer at the German University of the Police in Münster / Police Leadership Academy in the field of advanced training. Through the interdisciplinary orientation of the advanced training events, she worked to support, accompany and promote internal police restructuring processes and to strengthen the integrative position of the police within society. Her innovative approach was primarily to expand and consolidate the personal, social and methodological skills of the participants with the help of training methods from the field of acting. In addition to her artistic work, she also holds advanced training seminars, e. B. for teachers at PTA-Lehranstalten Akademie Klausenburg (breathing technique and breath-supporting body work, "The breath as a gateway to the soul") and guest seminars in the field of personality coaching (e.g. Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Osnabrück district (Das Licht under the bushel / authenticity and role)).

She currently works as a freelance director practically exclusively at the Theater Aachen, where her husband is the artistic director, and as an author and translator. Ewa Teilmans expressed herself explicitly and repeatedly against racism, anti-Semitism and xenophobia. In projects with a wide variety of social groups, e.g. In her theater work with prisoners in Berlin and in the Aachen penal institution, for example, she repeatedly points out that the diversity of global cultures, traditions and religions is an enriching element of a humanistically oriented society.

Ewa Teilmans is married to Michael Schmitz-Aufterbeck , director of the Aachen theater .
