Ewing Marion Kauffman (born September 21, 1916 in Garden City , Missouri , † August 1, 1993 ) was an American entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Kauffman served as a soldier in the Navy during World War II. After the war he worked as a salesman for pharmaceutical companies. In 1950 he founded his own company "Marion Laboratories Inc.". In 1989 the company, which had sales of $ 930 million, merged with "Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals" to form "Marion Merrell Dow".

Around 1960 he founded the "Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation" which, among other things, aims to promote entrepreneurship. She was co-initiator of the annual "Global Entrepreneurship Week", which is also accompanied in Germany by the "Gründerwoche Deutschland".

The Kauffman Stadium , a baseball stadium in Kansas City , is named after him and is home to the Kansas City Royals , a major league -Baseballteam the American League , the Kauffman from 1966 until his death as the owner led.
