Exalted in Germany under the title The High appeared (in the German translation now set) and pen and sword sold, is a high-fantasy - RPG from White Wolf . It is heavily influenced by Japanese manga and anime . It was designed by Geoffrey C. Grabowski .
The player characters are chosen by the gods (e.g. the undefeated sun) and have the powers of demigods, called charisms. The high live in the second age, centuries after the violent demise of the first age. Though mortals pose no threat to the mighty on high, they have many powerful enemies: the fae, the lords of death, and the walking dead. The Highs of the Sun ( chosen by the Unconquered Sun ) are hunted and slain by the Wylden Hunt , an organization created by the Dragonborn (less powerful high ones ).
Exalted's game mechanics are similar to the World of Darkness , but the game does not belong to this line of products. The set of rules uses ten-sided dice and rewards heroic and cinematic actions by the players.
history
Before the first age
In the really distant past, ancient gods (Primordials) came and created the world and the 5 elements from two of theirs (Gaia and Cytherea). They roamed through this eons and another primordial, authigh tone, created almost all other miracles, including the template for the people (Mountainfolk), the Inkarna (sun, moon, the 5 planets), the sky (Yushan), the fate (Loom of Fate) and the Games of Divinity .
Geasa (oaths) were imposed on the gods he created, forbidding them, among other things, to harm their creators, the Primordials. They got duties in the world and made sure that the primordials could play in peace in heaven.
The exact motivations are unknown, but at the request of the Sun, Authton decided to forge the Inkarna weapons, the Exaltations with which they would be able to slay the ancient gods. The end of this war marked the beginning of the first age when the Exalted took control of the world and the Incarna took control of heaven.
End of the first age
The Exalted 'in charge' of fate saw a great conflict coming, and like a self-fulfilling prophecy, they worked toward just that to prevent what they saw to come. They formed an alliance with the weakest of all Exalteds, the Dragon Blooded, who they saw as easier to manipulate tools than the Solars, and slayed the previously ruling Solars before they could understand where the attack was coming from. The weapons of the sun were banished, marking the end of the glorious first age.
Then came a time of around 1000 years, known as the shogunate, which ended almost a millennium ago. Today the solar begin to reincarnate and reclaim their 'rightful place' ...
