Execration is a Norwegian death metal band from Oslo that was formed in 2004.
history
The band was formed in 2004. In 2007 the EP Language of the Dead was released on the label Entartete Musik . In August of the following year, the debut album Syndicate of Lethargy joined via Vendlus Records . In 2009 the band performed at the Inferno Metal Festival Norway . A second album was released in 2011 under the name Odes of the Occult . In 2012 the group performed again at the Inferno Metal Festival Norway. The third album Morbid Dimensions was released in 2014 on Duplicate Records and Hells Headbangers Records .
style
According to the band's Facebook profile, she draws influences from Death Metal, Doom Metal and Black Metal for Odes of the Occult . Andreas Schiffmann from Rock Hard stated that the band blurred the lines between death and black metal. In an interview with Schiffmann, the drummer Cato Syversrud stated that although the band shoots underexposed photos with pentagrams , this is not a creed, but rather symbolizes the themes of Morbid Dimensions such as portals, transformation, death and upheaval. The songs would be written by all members together so that everyone could contribute their ideas. The songs would always be recorded live in the studio. The lyrics were written by an outsider in the past, which is no longer the case with the 2014 album. An issue earlier, Schiffmann had reviewed the album and described the music as death metal with slight black metal influences. He assigned the music to the second wave of black metal, in which the boundaries between black and death metal were blurred. The music is comparable to that of Negative Plane . There are also Doom Metal passages that he found hypnotic. In addition, the music has a progressive character and the singing is growling.
