The Stadtlagerhaus is a residential and commercial building originally built as a mill in 1880 in Hamburg-Altona-Altstadt .

Location and description

The building is located on Grosse Elbstrasse on the banks of the Norderelbe, west of the fish auction hall and the fish market in the port of Hamburg .

The building has an old brick building on which a double-shell glass facade is placed, which includes apartments. The building has a gable roof and a gutted interior with a parking paternoster. The building has a walkway that leads to the second floor of the building and allows access in the event of a storm surge .

history

The building was built in 1880 as a steam mill according to plans by Albert Petersen and in 1903/04 was given a cloverleaf-shaped extension according to plans by Raabe & Wöhlecke , which was used as a silo. The mill was rebuilt in the late 1990s and expanded to include a glass-shaped structure; the silo is provided with a gable roof. From 1998 to 2001 the building was rebuilt and expanded according to plans by Jan Störmer .
