Obliteration is a Norwegian death metal band from Kolbotn , which was formed in 2001.

history

The band was formed in 2001. The first concerts followed, including an appearance at the Inferno Metal Festival Norway in 2005 . A first EP was released via Duplicate Records with Total Fucking Obliteration , whereupon Apollyon from Aura Noir could be heard as a guest singer. After a demo in 2006, the band landed a contract with Tyrant Syndicate , which was a sub-label of Peaceville Records . The debut album Perpetual Decay was released in May 2007 , before the band went on tour through Great Britain with Ramesses . In 2009, the second album Nekrospsalms followed on the Norwegian label Fysisk Format . The album was recorded in the band's own studio and also produced by the band. After the release, the band went on tour through the US and UK. In addition, the band played at various festivals such as the Maryland Death Fest , the Hole in the Sky, the Øya Festivalen, the Live Evil and the Killtown Death Fest. After a three-year hiatus, the band returned in 2013 with the album Black Death Horizon , which was recorded again in the band's own studio.

style

According to metalstorm.net , the band was influenced by groups like Slayer , Obituary , Darkthrone , Deicide , Morbid Angel , Suffocation , Death and Possessed . On Perpetual Decay, according to Björn Thorsten Jaschinski from Metal Hammer, the band plays classic death metal with guttural vocals , whereby the music shows influences from Morbid Angel, Possessed and Autopsy . In the rock-hard interview, singer Solem stated that Darkthrone was a very important influence for the band. They were also slightly influenced by Mayhem and Burzum .
