Exoticism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Exotis is a Swiss association for the care, breeding and conservation of exotic birds .

The association is divided into individual sections. You can become a member of a section or directly to the association. The association magazine Gefiederter Freund appears eight times a year and provides information on all matters relating to the bird world. It currently (2005) reaches around 1,600 members around the world. Annual conferences are held by the association on current topics and complement the offer of the individual sections.

The working groups APK ( A rbeitsgemeinschaft the P rachtfinken, K örner- and soft-eaters) and ASP ( A rbeitsgemeinschaft for S ittiche and P apageien) can own meetings organized. An annual inventory list provides information about the populations and offspring of the individual species.

The club was founded in 1951 by some enthusiasts who no longer liked the various mutation breeds in many clubs and who did not want to make any evaluations at exhibitions. The aim and purpose is to achieve healthy offspring and breeding lines of exotic birds and to prevent them from being taken from nature. Breeding programs for endangered species are supported, as well as the Swiss A uffangstation for P apageien and S ittiche (APS) and the World Parrot Trust. There are contacts to breeders all over the world and to friendly associations at home and abroad.

The association has its seat at the residence of the incumbent president.
