The Expo Hall is a multi-purpose arena on the grounds of the Florida State Fairgrounds , a festival and exhibition center in Tampa , Florida . The building is mainly used as an exhibition hall, but can also be used as a concert and sports venue.

In the 1992/93 season , the arena served the newly established Tampa Bay Lightning from the National Hockey League as the home stadium. Since the audience capacity of 10,425 seats was too small, the franchise moved to the Thundedome in Saint Petersburg after just one year , which was temporarily converted into an ice hockey stadium until the Lightning got their own stadium with the Ice Palace in 1996.
