express - newspaper for socialist company and trade union work is a German left-wing socialist magazine that stands in the tradition of the socialist office and has been published since 1997 by the working group for the promotion of political education .

history

Express - newspaper for socialist company and trade union work was created in 1972 through a merger of express international with the socialist company correspondence . express international was published since 1962 by the Society for Research and International Cooperation in the Field of Journalism . The Socialist Company Correspondence had been a publication of the Socialist Bureau (SB) since 1970. After the merger, the newspaper was published by SB until 1997, then by the Association for Political Education (AfP). The editorial office was Offenbach until 2006, then Frankfurt am Main.

The express sees itself in the tradition of the self-service. It deals with issues of company and trade union work, but is institutionally and financially independent of unions or parties.

The newspaper serves left trade unionists, works councils and shop stewards as a mouthpiece for opinions that are opposed and critical of the organization. Regular rubrics are the “Company Review”, “Domestic Trade Unions”, “International” and reviews. Members of the editorial team and active employees were and are in some cases still today, including Eberhard Schmidt , Heinz Günter Lang, Klaus Kowol, Willi Michel, Walther Müller-Jentsch , Iris Bergmiller, Otto Jacobi, Rainer Erd , Edgar Weick, Volker Brandes and Heiner Halberstadt . Today the editorial team includes: Anton Kobel, Kirsten Huckenbeck, Nadja Rakowitz, Wolfgang Schaumberg, Stefan Schoppengerd and Torsten Bewernitz.

The newspaper appears ten times a year. The editorial team of express also publishes the “Ränkeschmiede” series of brochures and is involved in the “Work Environment Forum - China and Germany” project, which is committed to exchanging ideas with Chinese trade union and human rights activists.
