Extended Window Manager Hints

Extended Window Manager Hints ( EWMH ), or NetWM or Net WM , is an open standard for window managers of the X Window System . This defines various interactions between window managers, utilities, and applications, all of which are part of a complete desktop environment .

The standard is based on the ICCCM (Inter-Client Communication Conventions Manual) and extends its functionality.
