The Ezdan Holding Group (EHG) ( Arabic مجموعة إزدان القابضة, DMG Maǧmūʿat Izdān al-Qābiḍa ) is a multi-billion dollar company from Doha , Qatar . The company was founded by Sheikh Thani bin Abdallah Al Thani in 1993.

history

In 1960, Sheikh Thani bin Abdallah Al Thani founded a company called Thani bin Abdullah Housing Group (مجموعة ثاني بن عبد الله للإسكان / Maǧmūʿat Ṯānī b. ʿAbd Allaah li-l-Iskān ). It was not until 1993 that he changed the legal form to a limited liability company . In 2007 the company was converted into a publicly traded stock corporation. Between 2008 and 2009 the company was traded on the Qatari Stock Exchange. In 2012 the company acquired several other companies in the financial services, media, health and insurance sectors.

Ezdan Holding Group is the largest real estate company in the Arabian Gulf and was listed by Forbes as 17th largest Arab company in 2013 . In addition, the EHG is on the 1250th place of the world's largest companies.

While the focus of the EHG is mainly on national properties, attempts are being made to diversify the investment portfolio.

The EHG also helped Qatar prepare for the 2006 Asian Games by purchasing various properties to host the event.

In 2016 it was announced that it would invest in a large luxury resort in order to diversify in Ethiopia.

Sheikh Thani

The founder of the EHG is Sheikh Thani bin Abdallah Al Thani. He is a wealthy businessman and a member of the ruling family of Qatar. He is also involved in some charitable projects.

Thani bin Abdallah Al Thani is also the majority shareholder of the Qatar Islamic Insurance Company and the founder of the Qatar Medical Care Group.

Thani bin Abdallah Al Thani received the Growing Beyond Summit award from Ernst and Young in 2012.

Awards

Over the years, the EHG has won several awards. EHG won two awards for water and energy sustainability as well as the award for the most energy-efficient shopping building.

In 2014, EHG won the "Enterprise Agility Award" from Entrepreneur Magazine in collaboration with Barclays Bank for its excellence in the real estate industry. In the same year the subsidiary Ezdan Hotels won the award for the highest quality of service from International Hotelbeds.

In 2014, the EHG won the award for the best initiative for social responsibility for its social commitment.
