FA

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

F&A is a database and word processing program for IBM PCs . The abbreviation stands for question and answer .

It was developed by Symantec and came onto the market in 1985 as a DOS version, in the English-language original as Q&A ( Question & Answer ). The system has not been further developed since 1996 and sold to the German company CAB GmbH. About 100,000 licenses of version 5.0, which was developed by PFP Software GmbH on behalf of Symantec, were sold. Lantica LLC has developed a successor product to Q&A called "Sesame". This is able to import data from Q&A . Outstanding features of the software were the many import interfaces at the time and, above all, the easy design of queries. You had either defined and saved lists or you could enter more complex queries in natural language and first received a confirmation query and then the answer you were looking for. There was also a word processor that could easily be linked to the database.
