The Fahr – Schlieren monastery ferry is a passenger ferry across the Limmat in the Swiss canton of Zurich .

The ferry runs from Schlieren , south of the Limmat, to Unterengstringen and the Fahr Monastery named after it on the north bank. The ferry does not operate in winter.

history

It is believed that a ferry existed even before the monastery was founded in 1130. The Unterengstringer Bridge was inaugurated in 1844 and the ferry lost its importance.

The Schlieren Waterways Association and Seepfadi Zurich have been operating the ferry since 1981 .
