Federal Public Service (abbreviated FPS , Dutch Federale Overheidsdienst - FOD , French Service public fédéral - SPF ) is the name of the ministries in the Kingdom of Belgium . The name was created by the government of Guy Verhofstadt in the government period 1999 to 2003 in order to take into account the federal structure of Belgium.

The Federal Public Services are complemented by a number of Federal Public Programming Services (PPD). These deal with important social issues that extend across various federal public services, for example science policy .
