Five Brothers Oak

Five Brothers Oak, April 2012

The Five Brothers Oak is a designated natural monument north of the forester's house Barsberge southeast of the town of Seehausen (Altmark) in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt .

The name of the oak is likely to go back to the fact that the tree branches into five larger trunks just above the ground, one of which has since died (as of 2012). The age of the tree is indicated on a board in front of the tree as 130 years; however, the age of the sign itself is not noted. The tree may have grown in the 19th century. Around 1900 the oak was the center of a small park that belonged to the excursion restaurant housed in the Barsberge forester's lodge.
