Principality of Dubrovitsa
The Principality of Dubrovitsa ( Russian Дубровицкое княжество ) was a principality of the Kievan Rus around the Dubrowyzja Castle in the 12th and 13th centuries in what is now Ukraine .
history
Dubrovitsa was first mentioned in 1005 as part of the Turow diocese . At that time it probably belonged to the Principality of Turow .
For the year 1184 Gleb Jurjewitsch was mentioned as the first ruler of Dubrovitsa when he took part in a procession of the Kiev Grand Duke Svyatoslav Vsevoloditsch against the Polovzians . In 1223 Alexander Glebowitsch von Dubrowiza was named when he fell in the battle of the Kalka . No other princes of Dubrovitsa are known.
In 1240 Dubrovitsa was destroyed by the horsemen of the Golden Horde .
In 1321 the area became part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . There it became part of the rule of the Holszański princes . In the 16th century it came to Prince Ostroschski .
