FAKTuell is a German online newspaper that was started in 1982 as CWL magazine in Btx ( screen text ) and has been on the Internet since 1996.

The editorial team has several permanent employees who jointly bear the costs of the newspaper. Guest authors contribute to the reporting. Interviews and quotes have been published as streams since 1998. In 1999, the range of publications was expanded to include books.

The newspaper operation appears to have ceased at the end of 2013, as apparently no more articles were published after December 2013. This gives the impression that the project is now only intended to sell books - predominantly in the pseudo-medical field.

Editing and content

FAKTuell sees itself as left-liberal, independent and non-partisan. The editorial team advocates the introduction of a performance-independent citizen's salary , as it was first designed by editor-in-chief Christopher Ray in 2002 with the official figures of German offices and authorities.

Content

Since 1999 all articles and news have been kept online. There has been a podcast service since 2005.

Special promotions:

  • In 2000, FAKTuell, together with the President of the Görlitz District Court Krattinger, the Görlitz Public Prosecutor and various judges and lawyers, initiated a virtual murder trial in order to familiarize the population with the mechanisms of justice. A local radio station and a private television station broadcast the trial from the courtroom.
  • In 2001, FAKTuell organized six live broadcasts as part of the Freistaat Lausitz campaign on the regional radio station Lausitz 107.6 - every Friday from 8 p.m. to midnight, citizens and politicians from all parties met for music and live discussions about the situation in Lausitz at the Holz youth club in Niesky.
  • For the 2001 district election in Upper Lusatia, the candidates from all parties kept a public diary on FAKTuell.de
  • FAKTuell 2000 successfully sued the portal provider clickfish against commercial copyright infringements for content napping, which had integrated third-party content into advertising frames. Clickfish was represented by the international law firm Andersen Legal, which was later dissolved as part of the Enron scandal. In 2001 clickfish had to file for bankruptcy, FAKTuell was left with the costs.

FAKTuell responded to the accusation from the industry of being active as a nest polluter with a column of the same name, in which one primarily deals with media manipulation and court reporting.

FAKTuell often documents controversial outsider issues and opinions, such as B. the Stelzer engine or Stefan Lanka's vaccination review and virus thesis. The authors usually position themselves clearly. Comments and opinions of the individual editors are always published under their name and responsibility.

Interviews, e.g. B. with Discworld creator Terry Pratchett and the fatally injured musician Melanie Thornton , have been freely accessible since 1999 with real streams and original sounds.
