The FC Birsfelden is Basel football club and was established on July 1, 1920th The club colors are blue and white.

The home of FC Birsfelden is the star field. The stadium consists of a west stand with 400 seats, under which the cloakrooms are also located. There is also standing room for 9,000 more around the stadium. For training and games in winter, there is also an artificial turf next to the pitch.

The association was founded on July 1, 1920 by Messrs Bertoni, Heumesse, Gottlieb Krattiker, Gustav Scheuber and Theodor von Arx. Initially, the game was played on a square in Fasanenstrasse. Then they moved to the so-called Hardeck near Burenweg. From 1922, FC Birsfelden played its games on the Stieracker, which later had to make way for the Rheinparkschulhaus.

In 1922 the club played in the championship for the first time. He started in Serie C and promptly won his first title. But it was not the 1st team, but the 2nd team that became cantonal champions in 1922. In the 1925/26 season, the first team could celebrate their first success, they rose to the B series. In 1930 he was promoted to the doctoral class.

In 1932 the club was able to compete against a top Swiss club for the first time. In the Swiss Cup, they met FC Lugano . But FC Lugano did not want to bother to travel to Birsfelden . After a compensation payment, FC Birsfelden renounced its home right and drove to Lugano with 13 players and 2 coaches . The game ended 2-0 for FC Lugano.

In 1936 the club was able to add another title to its collection - FC Birsfelden became cantonal champions of Series II.

In 1937 FC Birsfelden suffered its first low blow, but it was not a sporty one! During the game against BSC Old Boys, the outside fans refused to pay admission, which led to physical attacks on the collectors. Due to this event, the board decided from now on to involve the Birsfelden boxing club in organizing the course.

Another title followed in 1938. FC Birsfelden won the Baselbieter Cup.

In 1940 the first team played for the first time in the first division and won the fairness prize, although the club struggled to provide a good team in the war years, as many players were called up for border service.

In 1942 the club made its first major transfer. The Birsfeld goalkeeper Walter Müller was sold to FC Basel for the sum of CHF 2500 . In 1944 'Gulle' Mauerer and 'Schaggi' Grieder also moved from FC Birsfelden to FC Basel. Maurer actually made his breakthrough at FC Basel and even played in the Swiss national football team .

In 1948 the Steinacker was fenced in and converted into a real sports facility in the years that followed. The official inauguration of the new square followed in 1951.

In 1952 the first team was relegated to the second division. But three years later they won first place in the 2nd division and won the promotion game against US Losone and FC Turgi. FC Birsfelden played in the first division again until 1958.

In 1960 and 1962 FC Birsfelden won the Basler Cup and in 1963 the club became regional champions of the second division.

In 1965 the Steinacker sports facility had become obsolete. The Sternenfeld sports facility was inaugurated.

The first team of FC Birsfelden is currently playing in the second division. In addition, another 15 teams (1 other active teams and a senior team and 13 youth teams) play for FC Birsfelden.
