The Foot Ball Club di Roma was an Italian sports club from Rome . The club, particularly known for its soccer team, was one of the three merger clubs that formed AS Roma in 1927 .

history

A football team was formed in 1903 at FC Rom, which was founded in 1901. This initially took part in regional tournaments before the Italian championship was first expanded to all of Italy in 1912 and the club participated in the regional qualifying for Lazio . After this was initially dominated by Lazio Rome , FC Rome won the preliminary round for the first time in the 1914/15 season with nine wins in ten games. Due to the entry of Italy in the First World War in May 1915, the championship was not played to the end.

After the end of the war, FC Rome could no longer build on the success. Initially, the club was represented in the Prima Categoria , but was sometimes unable to play and ended the regional qualification for Lazio in the last place in the table in the first two post-war championships. When a second division was introduced in the following year, the team managed to stay on the last non-relegation place, but rose in 1923. After being promoted again two years later, the club succeeded in the bottom third of the table.

After the club had played a competitive game with the last league game in March 1927, the club merged on July 22, 1927 with Alba Roma and Fortitudo Roma to AS Roma. It is true that the then president of the Fortitudo association, Italo Foschi , pushed the merger forward in order to establish a strong club in the capital. The new club took over the yellow and red club colors of the last top-class FC Rome.
