FEGA & Schmitt Elektrogroßhandel GmbH is an electrical wholesaler in central and southern Germany. The company in the legal form of a GmbH is part of the Würth Group .
history
The original company Schmitt Elektrogroßhandel GmbH & Co was founded in 1943 to procure motors and dynamos for emergency power generators. After the Second World War, the Schmitt electrical wholesaler expanded to include electrical and automotive engineering products.
In 1978 the second original company, FEG Elektro-Großhandels GmbH, was founded in Würzburg. In July of the same year, the branch with the new head office was opened in Ansbach.
Due to the risk of confusion with another wholesaler, the FEG was renamed in 1979 to the name FEGA (Fränkischer Elektro-Großhandel Ansbach), which is still used today.
In the 1995 financial year, the FEGA company found itself in a bit of trouble. In this situation, the Würth Group took a stake in FEGA in 1996 and thus secured the workforce. In 1999 Schmitt GmbH & Co. was also taken over by the Würth Group.
In the meantime, the two electrical wholesalers worked well together, which is why a joint online shop was launched in 2003.
In 2006, before the two wholesalers were merged, a joint central warehouse was built in Heilsbronn on 28,000 m². On January 1, 2009, the accounting and legal merger took place at FEGA & Schmitt Elektrogroßhandel GmbH.
The previous central warehouse was expanded in 2019 by a new logistics center with 37,500 m² of space and around 250,000 m³ of space and 10,000 additional pallet spaces in Heilsbronn's Gutenbergstraße.
FEGA & Schmitt Elektrogroßhandel GmbH is one of the leading electrical wholesalers in central and southern Germany with 57 locations. The more than 1095 employees are available to customers from trade and industry as competent contacts with professional competence and tailor-made solutions.
Products
The product range of the company based in Ansbach in Franconia comprises over 300,000 electrical and electronic items. The regular range includes 45,000 items that are permanently in stock. The product range extends from data and network technology to house and industrial technology. It includes cables and wires, installation materials and consumer electronics products. The services offered include system solutions, leasing and hire purchase as well as switchgear and distributor construction. Customers include the electrical trade, specialist dealers and companies from facility management and industry.
