The FK Slovan Pardubice is a Czech football club from the East Bohemian city of Pardubice . Between 2000 and 2006 the club played under the name FK AS Pardubice in the Czech second division . Since 2011 Slovan has not participated in the game operation.

Club history

FK Slovan Pardubice was founded in 1919 as SK Slovan Pardubice. For a long time the soccer team only appeared regionally. In 2000 Slovan rose to the 2nd division and merged with the then second division club AFK Atlantic Lázně Bohdaneč to form FK AS Pardubice, where the abbreviation AS stood for Atlantic Slovan . As a result, the team occupied mostly a midfield position in the second highest Czech league. After a seventh place in 2000/01, the 2001/02 season was fifth. In the season 2002/03 the team landed only on rank 12, in the following season 2003/04 the FK AS Pardubice was able to secure fifth place again. In the 2004/05 season, the team narrowly escaped relegation in 14th place, and ended the 2005/06 season in 12th place.

In the summer of 2006, the second division license was sold to the FK Baník Sokolov , the FK AS Pardubice only appeared in the fifth-highest division, the Pardubický krajský přebor . As a reason for the license sale, club owner Jiří Rýva cited the lack of support from the city of Pardubice, which did not want to invest in the expansion of the Letní stadium .

Although most of the players went to Sokolov , the team stayed at the top of the league. In the 2006/07 season, the FK AS Pardubice landed in third place, in 2007/08 the team was fourth and in 2008/09 it was enough for fifth place.

In January 2009, the club returned to its old name Slovan and went on as FK Slovan Pardubice. In the 2009/10 season, the team won the Krajský přebor and celebrated promotion to the Divize , the fourth highest Czech division. After the first half of the 2010/11 season, Slovan took twelfth place in the Divize, but financial problems meant that the team was logged off from the game in March 20111 and subsequently dissolved. Since then, Slovan has not participated in the Czech Football Association's game operations , although the club formally continues to exist.
