history

The corporate history of FRIWO AG (previously CEAG AG) in its current form has its actual origins in Industrieanlagen und Leichtbau GmbH in Düren, which was founded in 1967. After the name was changed and the location changed, it became CEAG Industrieaktien und Anlagen AG in 1977 with a new headquarters in Frankfurt. The company name CEAG goes back to CEAG Dominit AG, which was founded on June 27, 1906 as Concordia Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft in Dortmund. Conceived as a pure financial holding company, CEAG's path into the external power supply business began with the takeover of Friemann & Wolf Duisburg (FRIWO) in 1971. In 1996 the name "Friemann & Wolf" was changed to "FRIWO". CEAG AG, which has been based in Ostbevern / Westphalia since 2008, changed its name to FRIWO AG in 2009.
