The FSK Bukowina Chernivtsi ( Ukrainian ФСК Буковина Чернівці / FSK Bukowyna Terschniwzi ) is a football club from the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi . He plays his home games in the 12,000-seat Bukowina Stadium .

history

The club, founded in 1958, was temporarily represented in the second and third Soviet leagues during the Soviet Union . At first it still bore the name Awangard, but it was renamed Bukowina in 1964.

After Ukraine gained independence, Bukovina Chernivtsi was initially eligible to play in the newly founded first Ukrainian league .

After three seasons you finally had to accept relegation to the second division in the 1993/94 season . The club soon got into serious trouble and in 1999 had to relegate to the third division for the first time. After you could celebrate the direct return to the second division in the 1999/2000 season, Bukowina landed in the last place in the table in the next season and rose again in league three. The club stayed there for the next few seasons, barely escaping another relegation in 2002/03.

For the 2009/10 season, Bukowina was first in the table and finally made the long-awaited return to the second division. The player Wladyslaw Korobkin was also the top scorer in the third division this season and thus contributed significantly to the promotion.

Since then, the FSK Bukowina has been able to establish itself again in the midfield of the second division. But was the last to relegate to the Druha Liga for the 2014/2015 season. Bukovina finished fourth in the 2015/16 season, but was promoted to Persha Liha anyway, as Dynamo Kiev 2 and Krwiy Rog withdrew their teams from the league. Accordingly, Bukovina only stayed one season in the third division. On June 30, Serhiy Shyshchenko, a former Ukrainian international, was appointed as the new head coach.
