Publishing house of FVW Medien in Hamburg

The FVW Medien GmbH is a provider of media of the tourism industry . The medium-sized specialist publisher currently employs almost 100 people based in Hamburg.

history

In 1967 the fvw ("tourism industry") was published as a supplement to the traffic newspaper Wico (economic correspondant) in the publishing house Girardet & Co on the initiative of Dieter Niedecken . In 1972 Dieter Niedecken then founded the Dieter Niedecken publishing house. In 1986 the publishing house moved into the premises of an Art Nouveau villa in Jungfrauenthal. In 1990 another milestone was reached and the reference work TID was bought.

After the death of the company's founder Dieter Niedecken in 1994, his wife and daughter, Ines Niedecken, took over the management. In the years that followed, up to 1996, FVW Medien GmbH's core product, fvw, went through a transformation from a newspaper to a magazine. In 1997 the company moved to the current publishing house in Wandsbek. Shortly afterwards, in 1999, the TravelTalk magazine was founded and the first website was launched in the same year. In 2004 the travel magazine Urlaub Perfekt was founded and only two years later the magazine for the business travel market BizTravel.

Ines Niedecken was managing director of the publishing house from 2010 to 2012. On January 1, 2013, the German specialist publisher FVW Medien took over as a wholly-owned subsidiary. From June 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015, Marliese Kalthoff and Sönke Reimers shared the management of FVW Medien GmbH. Marliese Kalthoff and Peter Kley took over the management on July 1st, 2015. Ines Niedecken was the publisher and member of the supervisory board until December 31, 2013. Since January 1, 2014, Klaus Kottmeier (dfv) and Peter Ruß (dfv) have been on the supervisory board. Marliese Kalthoff has been the editor of FVW Medien since July 1, 2015.

To this day, fvw is the core product of the FVW media group, which has meanwhile developed from a small specialist publisher to a medium-sized media company. The main focus of the publisher is still today on the tourism and mobility industry.
