The Otto Kunze factory, which is under monument protection, is a historically significant building in the stocking town of Oberlungwitz . The three-story Art Deco-style building was built in 1925. Otto Kunze was one of the first to start producing stockings in Oberlungwitz.

history

In 1864 Ferdinand Kunze founded the "Stocking Factory Kunze KG Oberlungwitz". In 1888 Otto Kunze took over the management. In 1925/26 Otto Kunze built a new factory building on Hofer Strasse in Oberlungwitz.

1945 was the foundation of "Otto Kunze KG". In 1972 it was nationalized as " VEB Modestrumpf Oberlungwitz". In 1979 it was incorporated into the "ESDA" stocking combination in Thalheim . In 1983 the factory became part of the "VEB Tourmalin Hohenstein-Ernstthal ". In 1990 the "VEB Tourmalin Hohenstein-Ernstthal" was converted into the "Tourmalin-Strumpfwaren GmbH", later the company was continued by "RoGo".

Production ended in 2015.

The building was renovated between 2017 and 2019 and has been used as a senior citizens' residence "Wohn Park Kunze" since then.
