The term factory start-up denotes the start-up or commissioning of a factory in its entirety and therefore refers to the period of start, increase and stabilization of factory operations according to the projected parameters of the process implementation.

The term “start-up” is generally understood to mean increasing the level of process execution from a defined starting level to a defined target level (reference: manufacturing technology).

The term "commissioning" describes the transition of a system from the idle state to the permanent operating state (reference: process and energy technology).

The development of solutions and strategies for the rapid achievement of a stable and safe factory operation is the task of the engineering of factory planning and project planning.
