The Roth Factory Museum shows the historical process of wire production as well as the further processing, refinement and distribution of the finished goods. With the authentic structure of the entire factory, visitors can understand the day-to-day work of the employees and workers at the time. The museum is part of the North Bavarian Industriestrasse .

The main focus of production was the manufacture of Leonean goods , mainly made of copper, silver and gold. Other metals were also processed in smaller quantities. In the area of Altena and Nuremberg the production of Leonean goods was an important branch of industry.

history

The construction of the museum began in 1986, the opening took place in 1988. The owner Bayerische Kabelwerke AG gave notice in 2000 on the grounds that the company needed it for itself. The city of Roth made a historic factory building available to the historical association so that the museum could be reopened at the current address at the beginning of the 2001 season.

The State Office for Non-State Museums in Bavaria published a 15-minute contribution in cooperation with Bayerischer Rundfunk , which was published in the documentation series Museums in Bavaria and on DVD.
