Expert Committee on International Humanitarian Law

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Expert Committee on Humanitarian International Law of the German Red Cross (DRK) is a body based on the DRK statutes and appointed by the DRK Presidium to advise the Presidium of the DRK, which also serves to exchange views between the members. In addition to some departments of the Federal Government ( Foreign Office , Federal Ministry of Justice , Federal Ministry of the Interior and Federal Ministry of Defense ) and DRK representatives etc. a. also represented scientists (e.g. Stefan Oeter ). The Technical Committee is - contrary to the representation of the DRK as the "National Commission on Humanitarian Law" - not one of the national commissions for the implementation of humanitarian law, which the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has called upon the states to form, but is nonetheless in the list of National Committees and other National Bodies of the ICRC. However, there is no state decision on this, so that the technical committee continues to be just a DRK body and a discussion forum for its members.
