Stefan Oeter
Stefan Oeter (born July 4, 1958 in Karlsruhe ) is a German legal scholar and professor at the University of Hamburg .
Life
After completing his studies, Oeter worked as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg from 1987 to 1997 . In 1996 he completed his habilitation with a paper on integration and subsidiarity in German federal law (see below). From 1997 to 1999 he was represented at the universities of Heidelberg , Frankfurt (Oder) and Hamburg. Since 1999 he has been a full professor of German and foreign public law and international law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Hamburg and executive director of the Institute for International Affairs.
He is German member and chairman of the independent committee of experts for the European Charter of Regional or Minority Languages of the Council of Europe, President of the Historical Commission of the International Society for Military Law and the Laws of War, member of the "Expert Committee on Humanitarian Law" appointed by the DRK Presidium and Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration , The Hague. His main research interests are European and international business law, comparative federalism research, protection of language and cultural minorities, international humanitarian law and the theory of international law and international relations .
In March 2010 Oeter was accepted into the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg . Since the founding of the Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy Graduate School of Law at the University of Hamburg, he has been a member of the Board of Directors, which controls the fate of the Graduate School .
