Idea of the graduate school

The program is intended to promote the scientific and methodological skills of the members of the Graduate School. For this purpose, seminars are offered and each doctoral student is provided with two professors as supervisors. The program runs for three years. Scholarships are also paid to selected members .

International and basic orientation

The Research Training Group is based on two pillars: The scientific topics must all have a basic orientation and the program promotes the international orientation of its members. The topics are not limited to certain sub-areas of law, but questions are promoted that encompass the overarching context of the development of law and its sub-disciplines. These include legal theoretical , legal philosophical , legal sociological or legal historical approaches. The internationality of the doctoral students is part of the program, both thematically, in that fields such as European law , international law or international private law are examined, and with regard to the members themselves. Part of the program is held in English. Around half of the doctoral students sponsored come from abroad. Seminars for the members of the Research Training Group are offered by both internal and external professors. These include, for example, Professors Florian Jeßberger , Karl-Heinz Ladeur , Ernst-Joachim Mestmäcker , Stefan Oeter , Hans-Heinrich Trute , Antje Wiener and Peer Zumbansen . Following the model of the graduate school, the topics are all based on fundamental questions of law.
