Specialized information service geosciences of the solid earth
The specialized information service Geosciences of the solid Earth ( FID GEO ) complements the offers local libraries through regional activities in the areas of e-publishing, publication of research data and digitization. FID-GEO has been working since 2016 and is currently operating in the second funding phase (2019-2021).

Electronic publication of institutional series and other publications as well as pre- and post-prints of peer-reviewed research. All works published or digitized via the FID GEO are freely accessible on the repository for writings and maps of the FID GEO, GEO-LEOe-docs.
Electronic publication of research data . Information and advice on data publication (e.g. workshops) as well as the option to publish data via FID GEO on the specialist repository GFZ Data Services are offered. The focus is on data that forms the basis of an article in a trade journal.
Digitization : Public Domain works are digitized for scientific purposes on request. For geoscientific institutions and other publishers such as specialist societies, FID GEO offers the digitization of their series of publications that were previously only published in print. Digitization is financed from project funds. All digital copies are then freely accessible on GEO-LEOe-docs.
Geological map 1: 25,000 : An interactive overview map of sheets of the geological map 1: 25,000 (GK25) freely available online with links is available on GEO-LEOe-docs. Over 1000 sheets of GK25 on various websites are accessible from here. In addition, public domain sheets of the GK25 are listed, which can be digitized free of charge by FID GEO for scientific workers on request.

The FID GEO is operated by the library of the Albert Einstein Science Park at the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences and the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB) . The FID GEO is a DFG- funded project.
