Specialized pharmacy information service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Specialized Pharmacy Information Service (PubPharm) is a specialized information service for science operated by the Braunschweig University Library . The aim is to improve the information infrastructure for university pharmaceutical research. This includes improving the supply of literature, optimizing research and full-text access options and developing innovative research tools. The Fachinformationsdienst (FID) Pharmazie has been funded by the German Research Foundation since 2015 . The second funding phase started in 2018.

PubPharm research platform

The PubPharm research platform is a search engine developed by FID Pharmazie for pharmacy and other life sciences. It offers a search for scientific publications and is freely accessible. A newly developed, location-dependent availability check shows directly which literature is available (subscribed to) at your own university location. Based on deep learning technologies, a suggestion list of context-like, related substances, diseases / symptoms and genes is generated when searching for a drug or a disease. The structure search with similarity and substructure search makes it possible to search for compounds based on their molecular structure. With the advanced search, complex search queries can be entered.

PubPharm contains more than 55 million publications (as of 06/2020):

  • Medline ( PubMed ) articles ( 30M )
  • Articles from preprint archives
  • Other articles from pharmaceutical and chemical journals
  • Books (e-books and dissertations)
  • Clinical Trial Information
  • Patents

Parts of the project

  • Licensing of electronic journals: FID licenses enable direct, location-independent full-text access to journal articles regardless of licensing by university libraries.
  • Development and expansion of the PubPharm research platform : As a combination of search engine and library catalog, this discovery system offers the possibility of searching various databases at the same time. So z. For example, data from Medline and the library catalog can be searched with a search . In the future, search queries will be automatically expanded, e.g. B. When searching for the trade name of a drug, hits are found that contain the active ingredient (inclusion of normative data). The structure search is also being further developed in terms of content and functionality.
  • Long-term archiving and digitization: In order to permanently preserve and secure data, publications are given long-term archiving and old pharmaceutical journals are digitized.
