MEDLINE

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MEDLINE ( Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System On line ) is a publicly accessible bibliographic database of the US National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

It lists references from the international specialist literature in all areas of medicine , including dentistry, veterinary medicine, psychology and public health. This is based on around 21 million articles from around 4500 magazines .

In addition to the bibliographic information for a large part of the articles, summaries ( abstracts ) are currently available in English. Using PubMed can be made via the Internet searches of MEDLINE. LIVIVO, the online-based search portal of the German Central Library for Medicine , also enables Medline research.

Via an API , the data can also be accessed directly via some literature management programs in order to collect and process them for one's own scientific work.
