Specialized salesman in the food trade

Specialist salesperson in the food trade is a training profession recognized in Germany under the Vocational Training Act with a training duration of three years. There are three specialties: butchery , bakery and confectionery .

Places of work are companies in the food trade , depending on the chosen specialization, butcher shops, bakeries or confectioneries, as well as corresponding departments in large supermarkets. The catering industry may also offer jobs.

Specialist salespeople in the grocery trade sell groceries and sometimes also snacks by serving and advising customers.

In the 2017 training year, a total of 12,768 female and 2,412 male trainees learned a job as a specialist salesperson in the food trade, of which 5,022 female and 1,119 male trainees had started their training.
