The Fair Week is an action week organized by the Forum Fairer Handel to promote fair trade in Germany.

Fair Trade Forum

The Fair Trade Forum consists of all well-known fair trade organizations that are represented in Germany. Specifically, these are: TransFair , aej , BDKJ , Misereor , Bread for the World , gepa , El Puente , BanaFair , WeltPartner eG , Weltladen umbrella association , service center for municipalities in one world and the national networks.

Fair week 2001

The first Fair Week was held from September 24th to 30th, 2001 under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Ms. Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul .

The motto of this event was "joy prizes for the farmers" and at the beginning could hardly prevail.

Fair week 2003

From September 19 to 26, 2003, the 2nd nationwide Fair Week took place under the motto “Specials at the Friendship Prize”.

Fair week 2004

During the third fair week in September 2004, the “fair breakfast” was propagated. The Fair Week has established itself as a major fair trade event in Germany.

Fair week 2005

In 2005, the fourth fair week took place from September 19 to 25 under the motto “Delicacies from all over the world”.

Fair week 2006

The date for the Fair Week 2006 was September 18-30. The motto of the fifth edition was “Fairness connects”. In 2006, the Fair Week addressed young people in particular: “Ambassador for 14 days” was a guideline for action in which suggestions were made as to how one could stand up for fair trade and basic information on fair trade was given again.

Fair week 2007

In 2007, the Fair Week was held from September 17th to 30th under the motto "Afrikanissimo - discover the diversity!" She had invited for the sixth time to draw attention to fair trade.

Fair week 2008

Under the motto “Twice as good! The seventh Fair Week 2008 took place from September 15th to 28th. Around 900 organizers held around 3,000 events nationwide.

Fair week 2009

The eighth Fair Week took place in 2009 under the motto "Create Perspectives - Act Fair!" instead of. The presentation of the FairTrade Award, which was presented in the presence of representatives of the churches, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), politics, business and prominent supporters, had its premiere.

Fair week 2010

The focus of the Fair Week 2010 was chosen to be the enjoyment of fair trade products at home, but also in the catering trade. Accordingly, the slogan of the ninth annual event, "Fair tastes me!" arouse the desire to try out the diverse products from fair trade.

Further actions

In 2003, 2005 and 2007, as part of the Fair Week, the award ceremony took place in the nationwide competition Capital of Fair Trade , which is organized by the "Service Agency for Communities in One World".

Promotion of the fair week

The Fair Week is made possible with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) , the Bread for the World aid organization , the Evangelical Development Service (EED) and the Misereor Episcopal Aid Organization .

The fair week received prominent support. B. 2006 by the patron Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul .
