Human factor
The term human factor , including Human influencing factor , human factor (Engl. Human Factor ) is a collective term for psychological, cognitive and social factors in socio-technical systems and human-machine systems . In contrast to ergonomics and classical ergonomics , the focus is less on the physical and anthropometric properties . The “human factor” is often spoken of in the field of design , as well as at the intersection of security issues and psychology . Many authors use the plural, as human factors or human factors, to emphasize the multidimensionality and complexity of the psychological and social influencing factors (see Badke-Schaub et al., 2008).
The psychological and cognitive performance and abilities of people play just as much a role as the performance and ability limits. Because the capabilities of technical systems are constantly evolving, typical human skills, such as those for cooperation and problem solving ( non-technical skills ), are becoming increasingly important. The questions are: What human characteristics must be taken into account in order to
- to optimally adapt a technical environment to the person,
- to optimally distribute the tasks, competencies and responsibilities between man and machine,
- enable smooth interaction at the human-machine interface ,
- to reduce the consequences of technical and human errors and
- to improve the safety and effectiveness of the overall human-machine system.
In the probabilistic calculation of the reliability of technical systems, the probability of human error occurring is first (without further restrictions) numbered 1/100 (0.01).
