Owner and operator

The owner of the railway is the Ruland Fachklinik Falkenburg and the last operator was the Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG).

Operating times

The mountain railway ran daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The departures took place as required. The railway has been out of service since September 4, 2012.

End of operation

Since a considerable subsidy amount of approx. € 200,000 was incurred for the operation of the railway, the owner terminated the private-law management contract with the operator on December 31, 2012. This means that AVG cannot continue operations due to the ownership structure. As a replacement, a shuttle service was set up between the clinic, the city center and the train station, which is served by a minibus from the clinic once an hour.

In early 2014, the owner, Acura Kliniken , announced that they wanted to resume operations on the Falkenburgbahn in the near future. The clinic expected this to improve its image. No decision had been made by autumn 2015, and the train was still at a standstill in September 2019.
