The Falkensteinsee is in the town of Ganderkesee in Lower Saxony between the districts Steinkimmen and Falkenburg situated lake . The 2.3 hectare lake with partly gently sloping banks is used as a bathing lake . There is a sandy beach on the west bank.
To the west of the lake is a cottage settlement in the south and east a campsite with bistro. The area is around 240,000 m² in total.
