Martin case

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fall Martin was a plan drawn up by Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt in late 1944 during World War II . The plan provided for a double attack against the Allied forces in East Belgium and Luxembourg .

Von Rundstedt created Martin as a less ambitious alternative to Wacht am Rhein, in contrast to Adolf Hitler's plan to conquer Antwerp and encircle all of the Allied forces in Belgium and the Netherlands . Field Marshal Walter Model , Commander of Army Group B , had worked out a similar plan, and he and Rundstedt combined their plans with Herbstnebel in order to be able to present Hitler with a "small solution". This plan was rejected by Hitler and the far-reaching big solution was implemented as company Wacht am Rhein (see Ardennes Offensive ).
