Down wind
If an air mass is forced to flow over a mountain range, downward winds usually occur on the leeward side of the mountain range . They can be divided into two types:
- warm downdraft winds : Föhn , Chinook , Puelche , Santa Ana winds , Suchowej , Zonda
- cold ( katabatic ) downdrafts : Bora , Chanduy , glacial wind , Böhm wind , Mistral , Tramontana , Elvegust , Piteraq
Also downbursts are colloquially often called a downdraft.
