Folding attempt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The folding test is carried out on metal sheets . It proves the formability of a material at room temperature in the condition of delivery or after annealing .

In the folding test, for example, a pipe is bent (folded) by 180 ° in order to determine whether a crack appears on the tension side . In DIN EN ISO 7438, the bending angle is determined at which the specimen tears on the tensile side.

A minimum bending angle that can be achieved at a given temperature is often prescribed for a material.
