History and construction

The Chincol was a two-seat trainer aircraft developed by Fanaero-Chile for the Chilean Air Force. The aircraft was a two-seater low wing aircraft with a fixed tail wheel landing gear . Teachers and students sat one behind the other in a closed cockpit. The fuselage consisted of a welded metal frame that was reinforced with frames made of Manio wood . The two-spar, made of wood and clad with plywood, had a fabric cover on all surfaces. The machine was powered by a Continental O-470 piston engine with 160 kW. The first flight took place on December 14, 1955. The Chilean Air Force placed an order for 50 machines. Due to technical problems, the start of series production was delayed considerably, so that the order was canceled before only a single series aircraft was manufactured.
